Barre and Pilates girls, we’ve got your back! It’s time to stash away our generic, solid colored grip socks, and add a bit of whimsy and style to our barre sock game.  We are excited to be bringing you pieces from the latest sock line from the Cali-based brand, Pointe Studio.  The Pointe Studio team is made up of fitness instructors and trainers who live and breathe the world of fitness, and know that fashion is just as important as function. We fell in love with the bright bold colors and geometric patterns of their sock line that are so on trend right now. We had a chance to steal some time with Brand Manager Cheyana Van Dender to find out the story behind Pointe Studio:

What is your background? How did Pointe Studio start?

I come from a world of many different paths! Well, I’m a Canadian “hippie” living in beautiful Orange County. I’ve always had a passion for wellbeing and fitness, with a flair for business. I’ve made many career moves – from a professional dog walker (don’t judge until you try leading a pack of 15 dogs) to corporate sales to personal training and nutritional consulting. For the past two years, I have been working on launching Pointe Studio with the best team a brand manager could ask for! Iva Pawling, co-founder of our sister brand Richer-Poorer and a Bar Method instructor came up with the brilliant idea of stylish barre socks one day while teaching class. Iva and I first met through a mutual friend whom I call “wifey” (love you, Julie) and bataboom, skip two years ahead, Pointe Studio is an athletic brand rooted in the fashion industry. Our team is made up of barre instructors, spin teachers, personal trainers and some designers in the mix. Pointe Studio socks pack a serious punch in performance as well as in design. We are on a mission to be louder than the rest!

What is your favorite workout to best show off your socks?

Favorite workout, this is tough one for me. My workouts generally correlate with my mood and what I need to feed my soul. When pressure or stress builds up I like to slip on some Pointe Running socks, lace up a pair of running shoes, and run my ass up steep Laguna Beach hills  (does this sound insane?!) When I feel like digging deep into my body I’ll most definitely hit a barre class, wearing my Pointe Studio Grip socks of course! When I need to breathe and let go I’ll take a yoga class, or two, or three…..

There is a big emergence of brands in fitness fashion, what do you think of the athleisure trend?

It’s the way of the future and I’m so f’ing excited! I feel that fashion is finally meeting health at a crossroads. We have an amazing opportunity being in the athleisure industry to market the younger generation on the importance of exercise. There is nothing more exciting to me than to see fitness become a part of the fashion industry! If I could wish for anything for my daughter, it would be that when she grows up she can too look at both fashion and health as cool, but most importantly I’m excited for her to be inspired rather than insecure. I know I will definitely do my best branding with Pointe to be real and beautiful from the inside out.

What is your personal definition of our tag line #BeFITandFIERCE?

Ahhh, love it!

Live like a warrior woman #befitandfierce

BE – live in the present moment. Who gives a darn about what was or what could be in the future. Just BE!

FIT – Prove to yourself that you can take care of your body from the inside out.

FIERCE – Never give up on what’s important to you. Don’t ever shy away and hold your head high!

Where do you find inspiration?

Great question! OMG everyone! I’m a people person, I love talking to people and hearing their stories. It always amazes me how amazingly strong the human soul is. My inspiration this last year has come from some of my closest girlfriends, each day we strive to #befitandfierce.
